Delhi’s Gen Z, by the numbers that matter
Delhi has close to 90 colleges under Delhi University alone, plus IIT Delhi, JNU, DTU, NSUT, Jamia and the IP University network. Add the Noida and Gurgaon campuses within an hour’s metro ride and you have well over 600,000 students in the National Capital Region, the largest single student market in India after Pune and Bangalore combined. These are students from every state, so a Delhi campaign is also a national test.
The city’s Gen Z is unusually brand-forward. Hudson Lane and Satya Niketan are effectively open-air focus groups: every cafe, PG and tuition centre near a DU college competes for the same 18 to 22 year olds, which is why so many consumer launches are tested here first.
Where Delhi’s 18 to 26 year olds actually are
A Delhi campaign has three distinct territories. North Campus (Hudson Lane, GTB Nagar, Kamla Nagar) is dense, walkable and dominated by DU colleges like Hindu, Hansraj, SRCC, Miranda House and Kirori Mal. South Campus and the Satya Niketan strip serve Venky, Jesus and Mary, Ram Lal Anand and the hostel crowd. The engineering belt, IIT Delhi at Hauz Khas, DTU in Rohini and NSUT in Dwarka, is where app installs and fintech signups convert fastest, and where fests like Rendezvous, Engifest and Moksha pull 20,000 to 40,000 visitors over three days.
Off campus, Hauz Khas Village, Connaught Place, Majnu ka Tilla and the Lajpat Nagar and Sarojini Nagar markets are where Delhi Gen Z spends weekends and shoots content. We plan creator shoots and sampling routes around these clusters so on-ground work and reel content come from the same places your audience recognises.
What we run in Delhi
- Campus activations and sampling at DU, DTU, NSUT, Jamia and IP colleges, with permissions handled by our Delhi team. See campus marketing and sampling and activations.
- Fest partnerships at Rendezvous, Crossroads, Tarang, Mecca, Confluence, Engifest and Moksha, planned from the August fest calendar onwards.
- Delhi student creators: nano and micro creators from the colleges above, briefed in Hinglish, shooting where Delhi Gen Z actually hangs out. See influencer marketing and creator and UGC.
- WhatsApp and Discord communities built around DU societies, hostel groups and placement cells. See community marketing.
- App installs and signups for fintech, quick-commerce and edtech brands with large Delhi NCR user bases. See app user acquisition.
Why Delhi brands pick us
GenZ Marketing is based in New Delhi, which means a city lead can be at your activation or in your office the same day. The team behind this brand has run Delhi campus programmes for Pee Safe, Bombay Shaving Company, Unacademy, Motorola and KTM, among others, and we know which DU colleges will say yes to a stall in exam month and which will not.
Delhi is also the fastest city to scale from. Noida and Gurgaon colleges share the same creator pool and metro line, so a Delhi pilot can extend to Noida and Gurgaon in the second wave without a new team. If you are briefing a Gen Z marketing agency for a North India launch, start here, then add Chandigarh and Jaipur.
