Hyderabad’s Gen Z splits between Osmania’s old campus, the IIIT and BITS belt and the Hitec City first-jobber crowd. We run campus activations, Telugu creator campaigns and tech-park communities for brands that want the city’s 18 to 26 year olds.

Two Hyderabads, one Gen Z

Hyderabad has roughly 600 colleges across the city and Rangareddy district and well over half a million students, most of them in engineering. It also has the second-largest IT workforce in India after Bangalore, concentrated in Hitec City, Madhapur and Gachibowli, where a large share of employees are 22 to 26 and in their first or second job.

So a Hyderabad brief is really two briefs. The first is campus: JNTU’s affiliated engineering colleges in Kukatpally and beyond, Osmania’s old-city campuses, and the research belt of IIIT, University of Hyderabad and BITS. The second is the tech-park first-jobber, who lives in a shared flat in Kondapur, eats at Madhapur food courts and spends on gadgets, gaming, travel and biryani.

Where Hyderabad’s 18 to 26 year olds spend their week

West Hyderabad is the money. Gachibowli has IIIT, University of Hyderabad and ISB within a few kilometres; Hitec City and Madhapur have the offices; Jubilee Hills Road No. 36 and Banjara Hills have the cafes and the content. Kukatpally is the JNTU belt and the city’s densest student housing. Central and east Hyderabad have Osmania, Nizam College, St. Francis and Loyola Academy, with Ameerpet’s coaching strip next door drawing thousands of software-course students from across Telangana and Andhra. BITS Pilani Hyderabad and IIT Hyderabad sit outside the city at Shameerpet and Kandi, and their fests, Pearl, ATMOS, Elan and nVision, draw students in from everywhere.

Telugu is not optional here. Hyderabad Gen Z follows Tollywood, aha and Telugu YouTube with the same intensity as Hindi audiences follow Bollywood, and the city’s best-performing student creators switch between Telugu, English and Dakhni within a single reel.

Services we deliver in Hyderabad

  • Campus marketing across JNTU colleges, Osmania, CBIT, Vasavi, VNR VJIET and the Gachibowli research belt. See campus marketing.
  • Fest partnerships at Felicity, Elan, nVision, Pearl, ATMOS, Sukoon and Sudhee, mostly between January and March.
  • Telugu and English creators, student and first-jobber, shooting in Jubilee Hills, Necklace Road and Charminar. See influencer marketing.
  • Tech-park communities: WhatsApp and Discord groups around Hitec City offices, coding bootcamps and JNTU placement cells, used for app installs, referrals and launches. See community marketing and app user acquisition.
  • Sampling and activations at tech-park food courts, Kukatpally hostels and Ameerpet coaching centres. See sampling and activations.

On timing: JNTU and Osmania colleges fill up in August, the Gachibowli institutes run their fests between January and March, and Hitec City is steady all year, which makes Hyderabad one of the few cities where a campaign can start in any month.

Why Hyderabad brands brief us

The team behind GenZ Marketing has run Hyderabad campus programmes for Motorola, vivo, OPPO and Unstop, and the city is one of the strongest nodes in our network of 10K+ colleges and 100K+ campus ambassadors because so much of India’s engineering intake sits here. We know which JNTU colleges allow stalls in the first semester and which Gachibowli institutes want a research-style brief.

Hyderabad also works as the hinge between Bangalore and Chennai for a southern rollout, and as a cheaper, faster test than either for tech and gaming products. If you are evaluating a Gen Z marketing agency for Telangana and Andhra, our Gen Z marketing guide is the right starting point.
